How do men feel after a break up?

I’m curious to know how the mentality of a man works after a long term relationship ends? Or how does he deal with break ups? Do you ladies think he forgets about his ex completely?

I feel like after my breakup with my child’s father of 5 years, I was excited to start a new chapter. Of course I was upset and sad but I was more excited to not be controlled by someone or treated like crap at times. I moved on for a little bit while he was stuck. And now it’s the other way around. He seems to have moved on, although he still wants me around. BUT I am the one now heartbroken while he’s out having fun. It’s funny how life works at times and it almost feels like this new era we live in, is just a fucking game. When we want someone, they don’t want us. When we don’t want them, they want us.
