Parental Didapproval

Kelsey

Hi guys. I’m have a really hard time today and could use some encouragement. I am 28 years old, I have a four year old daughter and another one on the way. I am currently engaged and my fiancé and I live in a 1300/mo 2 bedroom apartment in Denver. (1600 after all utilities and everything) I HATE this apartment. It’s grounds outside are unkept, it’s outdated and not suitable for a newborn baby. (It’s livable and it’s been okay for the last year) but we are both ready to move. So I found a nice 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house in a nice neighborhood a friend of mine is renting out. He wants $2000 a month for it. I really like the house and thinks it’s big enough for our growing family and has a nice backyard for the kids, etc. Well - my mom and dad disapprove of us spending this much money on a rental and are trying to talk me out of it. I am very hurt, as I feel I am never good enough for them. They want me to buy a house, and I would love to buy a house someday, but I honestly cannot afford to buy a house right now. I’m just trying to do the best I can for my family and I feel deeply saddened that they never approve of my life. Anyone else have parents that disapprove of life choices, etc? I don’t ask them for money and I’ve been on my own for almost ten years. I know if we rent this house they will be very disappointed and it will cause unwanted tension and drama in the future. Thoughts?
