Ready to cut her off

My mother and I have always had a rocky relationship. From when I was younger, she has yelled at me, called me names, and threatened to beat me up over the years. I still remember the day I was playing video games with my younger brother, and he started crying because I kept winning against him. My mom came up those stairs, came in the room, then grabbed me by my hair and slammed me into the ground. All because my brother was crying.

My mother disowned me for dating a white guy (we are Polynesian, and she believes I should only be with another Poly.) ever since my relationship with him started, my mom stopped talking to me and told me that our relationship will fail. I got engaged to him soon after and she hoped our marriage would fail too. Didn’t show up for anything as far as wedding planning went, made sure to text me the day I got my wedding dress saying I was stupid and making a huge mistake, up until the month before the wedding. That’s when she showed up, met my fiancé and his family. She tolerated them, but didn’t care to know them.

Well now my husband and I have a son, and are pregnant with child #2. My mom and I were doing alright but recently she got mad (again) and has once again decided to ignore me and insult me and my family.

I’d like to think I’ve been gracious and patient with her. But with all the racist and hateful comments she has made towards my husband and his family, going so far as to call my husband’s 4 month old niece “not even cute”, I’m done putting up with her. She is ashamed of me and my choice to marry my white husband. And honestly, I don’t want that around our children.

Until she deals with the hate and negativity in her heart, she is no longer welcome in my life. I’m over it.
