So is it a thing to ask to get your cervix checked or what , I’ll be 39 weeks this Friday and my dr hasn’t even bothered checking me ....

Very doctor dependent. There’s really not much of a point to be honest, it’s just a bit more information. You can always ask if you’re curious!

I think it depends where you live.
It's normal in the UK. 
My husband and i are 40 weeks and 1 day. Due date yesterday. 
We get a sweep on monday and induced next Wednesday if our baby doesn't decide to arrive before then.
Not had an exam here. 
I'm sure you can have one if you want. Just ask. :).

Depending on the dr. My last appointment the dr asked if I even wanted to be checked. The last week I was 2cm 50% which this week I’m still the same. But be careful when being check! I didn’t know that checking the cervix can cause horrible Braxton Hicks. I’ve gone to the hospital twice now thinking I was about to give birth but there was no change to my cervix

My OB never offered to check with my first. I see a different OB this time and she also hasnt offered, but a nurse practitioner offered once when I was 37 weeks. I see my OB today (39+3) and she said she’s checking today since it’s my (hopefully) last week. It really doesn’t mean much so many doctors don’t bother, because it can cause spotting and cramping.
