Is your baby still using pacifiers?

My son will be 18 months next month. He hasn’t drank out of a bottle since he was 12 months. I want to quit the pacifiers too. If your baby is off them, how’d you do it? I’m thinking cold turkey just like I did his bottle, but I’m not sure if that’s the right approach

We didn’t break his til his second birthday 😭 his connection to it was stronger than I thought, and my mom gave it to him when he wanted it so that didn’t help

We started at the beginning of quarantine by only allowing him to have it for sleep, we took away car paci first and didn’t let him carry them around. Did that for a couple days and took them away for naps for a day or two and then for night sleep. It only took us maybe a total of 4/5 days until he was totally weaned.

My daughter has only ever used a paci at bedtime and occasionally in the car when she was little. Shes 18 months now anx I probably won't wean till 2.

So funny story my daughter got strep throat, and it caused a really nasty rash around her mouth. She would get kind of scared looking at herself, so we told her that the paci did it. Seemed to kick it pretty quick. We struggled for a few days but we had already been using it for bed time only. So what also helped more was wearing her out more during the day so she would be so tired at bedtime that she would fall asleep quickly.

We did cold turkey at 18 months when we started to notice our daughters teeth shifting in weirdly. It was a rough few days but she adapted pretty quickly. Now she’s a little over 2 and her teeth have shifted back to normal.

I never forced them to stop but my first stopped at 8m when she stopped having bottles (we had been supplementing and stopped once she was eating enough solids along with breastfeeding) our second stopped when he dropped his second nap, just didn’t want it anymore. Our third never wanted one. We only offered them in the car and during sleep though, never during the day so idk if that made a difference.

I took my daughter’s paci away when she began walking, right at a year old. I just quit giving it to her at nap time, and after a few days, I quit giving it to her at night time. Her dad and I were divorced, so he gave her a pacifier at his house and that made it much harder to break. But, if everyone’s on the same page, it should be easier.

Tossed them when she turned six months.  She was fussy about it for two days and then forgot they existed.

We did it cold turkey at about 17 months.  Took him 3 days to get over it.  Hardest part was at nap time.  Wasn’t terrible.
