Ttc while EBF

I’m almost 6 months postpartum and my husband and I have decided to start trying for another baby because it took us nearly 2 years to conceive our son. We just stopped using condoms last night (he finished inside of me) but I am exclusively breastfeeding and havent had my first postpartum period yet. Is it pointless to even try before I get my period back? I know some women do get pregnant while breastfeeding but with everything I’ve read online, you have to be under 6 months pp, nurse a certain amount of times a day, baby shouldn’t take a binky, etc. We meet all of the requirements for breastfeeding being as effective as birth control. We would really like our babies to be close in age so any tips for trying to get pregnant while breastfeeding would be helpful!
