trying to figure out what's going on!

So I took a pregnancy test 3 days after my missed period and it was negative.

Keep in mind, my periods have always fluctuated on the dates, i've never has a steady one. Over the past couple of months, my husband and I have been trying. A week before all this happened, I was feeling super nauseous. A couple of days ago, I started to lightly spot, and then the next day, I spotted a little bit and as I was cleaning myself in the shower, a small blood clot looking thing came out of me and that's it. After that day, I haven't spotted at all AND i still haven't gotten my period. My period is now late by 8 days.

What do you guys think this is? A miscarriage? A pregnancy? I'm trying to figure this out
