Night terrors? Please help!
My almost 4 year old just woke up yelling “mommy, mommy” like she was terrified. When I went in her room she was drenched in sweat, she sat straight up and I asked what was wrong. She couldn’t form full sentences, but stammered about needing to tell me something and wanting something. She’s point across the room but seemed like she wasn’t focusing on what was actually there. She would look at me but not keep eye contact. I kept trying to talk to her, unsure if she was coming out of a bad dream or was still in the bad dream. Finally I said “honey are you ok?” And she said “no!” I asked what was wrong and she started to cry and said “I think I’m lost!!” I pulled her onto my lap and said “you’re not lost. we’re in your room.” And then she kind of looked around and up at me and it was like she was finally focusing again.
I did a google search but I just don’t know was this a night terror? Google said it can be brought on by heat, and also obstructed breathing, and she has a habit of putting her fuzzy blanket on and pulling it up over her head.
I went in a bit later to put a fan in her room because her room doesn’t cool down well, and said she remembers being confused. I dont know if this is because I woke her up from it? Anyone have any advice?
