Happy Monday to you all! I’m not a huge fan of Mondays but this is the day the Lord has made, so I will rejoice and be glad in it😂

I am going to be talking about how to love your enemy which is probably one of the hardest commands God gives us. So today’s verse is Matthew 5:44

-Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you.-

This one is definitely tough. I for sure struggle with it. I have made many religious posts on groups that aren’t specifically religious, and I have gotten some not very nice comments back. People saying quite rude things that hurt. Using very crude language as well. You have no idea how bad I wanted to fire back at them and tell them what was what. But I didn’t because hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that. I prayed that their hearts would be softened. If God did it to pharaoh he can do it to them.

Maybe it’s someone who bullied you. It is so hard to love those people. Love takes time. Prayer does too. What about the bad relationship you were in where your partner abused you? Or your parents did the same when you were a child? How can you bless them and do good to them? At church yesterday the pastor was talking about the story of Joseph and his brothers, and how Joseph didn’t take revenge on his brothers, after they tried to kill him and sold him into slavery. Joseph prayed for them and forgave them. The point the pastor made that I thought was amazing was that when you forgive, you are letting God act justly. He will punish those who do wrong, but isn’t hating and revenge wrong as well?

My challenge to you is so pray for your enemies, those who hate you. Forgiveness and love won’t come right away but prayer is always a step in the right direction.
