3 year old still babbles?

I’m not sure this is the right group to post in, but I need a little advice.
My 3 year old (birthday in May) still babbles some. I can understand almost everything he says just fine, but he does still babble (he usually says something like “dab-a-dab-a-dab” very quickly). I honestly didn’t think anything was wrong with his language skills, but my MIL commented on it to my husband and said we should look into a speech therapist for him. She says that none of her children/grandchildren that she took care of were babbling at this age. On the other hand, my mom thinks he’s fine and talks just like any other 3 year old would.
I’ve tried searching online, but everything about babbling is geared towards two and under, and anything for 3 year olds has nothing to do with babbling and more to do with no talking or limited vocabulary. My son has a big vocabulary, can form sentences of 3-5+ words, and no speech impediment that I can hear beyond what I would expect for a toddler. He’s actually really chatty and talks quickly, so maybe that’s why he babbles?
I don’t know if I need to be concerned and have him checked out, or if my MIL is overreacting. She’s cared for two grandchildren close to my son’s age, but to me those two seem gifted verbally. Now I’m afraid that they’re actually the norm and my son is behind. Any advice or insight?

I have a rule against taking advice from family lol. They tend to not know what they’re talking about. She’s taken care of children but she hasn’t taken care of all children nor has she gone to school to learn anything about child development. If it worries you, call the pediatrician and ask about it. But I definitely wouldn’t stress about it.

I work in childcare. As long as most of what he says you can understand I wouldn't be concerned. If he was in my class I would not be making a referral for speech therapy.

I didn’t even have to read the rest of your post to understand or to establish that there is absolutely nothing wrong with your little one. In my experience mother in laws nit pick! All the time! And for no good reason at all! She didn’t even say anything to you directly, she said it your husband. Rest assured your baby is fine. Just ignore her and any other future comments. It’s because you’re a good mum you’re worried and thats understandable, but really I don’t think there’s any issue with her speech.

At 3 they should be able to say p,h,w,m, and n. Plurals, -ing verbs, and being able to answer who, what, when, and where are also 3 year old milestones. He also should be using full words without deleting a syllable (says cat rather than ca) and be mostly understood by strangers. I can't remember sentences, but I think it's 5-6 words sentences and like 500 words. Mostly they look for being able to have some sort of back and forth conversation. My son is almost 4 and has a severe speech delay so we've been working on these for the past year. He has progressed really well, but we're still not even caught up on what he should be doing at 3. Sounds like your son is doing well, but if you have concerns speak to his pediatrician. Even if he has a small speech delay (which sounds doubtful from what you've said) they don't worry too much and it's common for the 1st child to take a little longer with speech. Don't worry too much about what your MIL says?

So my son does have a speech delay. He was tested for all the early intervention diagnosis but the only thing he has is a 'generalized speech delay'. He talks a lot more than he used to can say sentences now but still babbles sometimes. He is in speech therapy and he is almost 4. He's had 4 people work with him and no professional has been worried about him. They all believe he will catch up and is just more focused on physical things. 
I don't think you should be worried either way, but I don't think just babbling every once in a while is something to look into for a speech therapist. If your pediatrician didnt say it was concerning I wouldn't worry.

My son babbles at times but that cause he speaks 2 languages and gets them confused . Maybe bring him to his doctor to see what they say ?  I wouldn’t worry to much hun he’s still little ❤️

My kid will be three in September and she still babbles and mumbles and she also talks great clear words and sentences.
