Buying used cloth diapers? Good or gross?

I'd love to start cloth diapering for my 7 month old and we want to have more kids. However, we are on a tight budget so I'm wondering what you all think about buying used? Is there a way to sanitize the heck out of them so they're clean enough? I'm so torn...

Wow thanks for all the info everyone!! I found a good deal of 40 lightly used one size fits all diapers and a toilet rinse hose attachment and 2 wet bags for 120 so I think I'm gonna do it and learn how to strip them 😄

There’s a way to “strip” them, that’s what I’d recommend! Don’t recall the process but the cloth diaper group (or google) would know.

I’m going to guess the people saying no don’t cloth diaper their kids. Go into Facebook and search “cloth diaper” or “wool diaper” and a million things and groups will come up. Join us, it’s great!!

If you buy thrift store clothes then you’re safe to buy used cloth diapers. There’s no point in buying brand new to do the same thing that used would, for cheaper too. Save you some money man.

Personally, I wouldn’t because of all the money I would be saving from cloth diapering in the first place. I think it’s worth it to splurge on a brand new set of cloth diapers that you get to choose

I wouldnt...the savings is negligible considering what you would lose in elbow grease and worry that these used cloths arent sanitized enough. 
Just pop for a new set and then you can save by not having to repurchase again.

Yes, buy them! I got my whole stash used for around $100 total and I have used them for both my kids so far and I’ll use them with baby #3 too!

Yes. They can be sanitized. Google “fluff love university” and you’ll find instructions for sanitizing with or without bleach, plus lots of other info on how to properly care for them. You don’t necessarily need to strip them on top of that unless you know they weren’t being washed properly by the previous owner (eg, they stink even when clean or they aren’t absorbing), but those instructions are there too if you need them.
