How do you ladies do it?

Question

I just had my first baby and currently I’m a stay at home mom. Baby is 4 weeks. I’m curious do you ladies expect your spouse to also get up at night with the baby￼ like you do one feeding and he do the other? Or because he working do you just get up with baby and let him sleep and you do all the caring for the baby at night and the day time?

If I was home and my husband was working I’d expect to do most of the work overnight, but he would help every so often.

We took turns so I could have a 4hr stretch of sleep. So he would do one time a night, maybe more. He also does “chores” like laundry and dishes.

No. He did for awhile, but I told him to stop. He can’t do anything, so there is no reason for us to both be sleep deprived.

I breastfed does I did all the night feeds. My husband would still get up with me and hover over me though to make sure I had everything I needed. I finally told him “babe, you can’t nurse her, go to sleep. No use in both of us being up”. He helped with household chores though to make up for not being able to nurse her.

It was me usually as my hubby was working.
However sometimes he did wake up.
He gave me weekends off when he was at home so I can sleep too

I did all night time since he worked, and I was nursing so there really wasn’t a reason for him to get up. When I would wake up and sit up to feed or mess with baby he would roll over and rub my back or put his hand on me. But I do the most

When I was at home I'd get up with him. Then I'd take a little nap with him during his nap time after lunch! It helps.

I did all night time (after he went back to work from paternity leave). Unless I was just so exhausted I couldn’t move. I was nursing so it made more sense for me to just get up & nurse so I didn’t have to wake up & pump as well. When babe was older (10m or so) he would help on Friday night & Saturday night to try to get him to sleep to give me a longer stretch. Since my son turned 3, he does all overnight wakings (not many) but he can function on little sleep & I need alllllll the sleep. I felt guilty since I’m a SAHM but I quickly got over that.
