4 month old eating normal?

Question

I keep reading that 4 month old babies eat 4 to 8 oz every 4 to 6 hours. My baby will only eat 1 to 3.5 oz at most at a time and eats very frequently. Is this ok or should I change this to more of a schedule? I am a exclusive pumper by the way.

For breastmilk it should be NO more than 4oz total the entire time getting breastmilk.

Your baby is getting the right amount. 1-1.25oz per hr for breastmilk.

For breastmilk, it should actually be more like 4-6 oz every 3-4 hours during the day. I’m not sure how frequently you mean, but I’d try to consolidate the feedings a bit.  I feed my LO every 3 hours, but I EBF so not sure about oz. When I do pump and give a bottle he usually takes about 5 oz in a feeding.

If your baby is gaining weight I don’t think I’d be worried about it health wise. But I’d say that’s very tiring for you. My baby ate about every two hours until about 3 months and now it’s every 3-4 hours thankfully!
