Nipple Bite!

ALF
My 6 week old accidentally chomped down on my nipple leaving a small crack/gash (even while wearing a nipple shield) that is now very painful to nurse on that side.  Lactation consultant said to nurse as usual putting breast milk on the wound to prevent infection while it heals.  I'm thinking of pumping the affected breast when my husband is home and giving my LO a bottle to give that breast a break instead.  Anyone have this happen and did you continue to nurse through the pain or pump when you could?
