Is anyone deciding to homeschool because of covid this year?

I am, and I also have a 4 month old to take care of. We already started and can assure you it's not gonna be easy. Kids are in 2nd and 4th grade. They get unfocused sooo easy, especially the 2nd grader. I don't even know how I'll make it to the end. What should only take around 4 hrs to complete, ends up taking  like 7 hrs. 
Any advice or words of encouragement are welcome.

Some sort of sticker chart or reward system. If you can get manipulatives involved like in math, using blocks, etc, that can be helpful too. Reward examples are, getting to choose a treat at the end of the week or day, extra video time, small toys, pick a place to get takeout, choose the movie for movie night but can be as elaborate or as simple as you like and daily or weekly or when they fill a chart. Small breaks do help as well. If there are ties to a school or teacher, maybe reach out to them and they can send a card of encouragement. I’m sure I have more ideas, just can’t think right now. Former kindergarten and 2nd grade teacher here! Oh, another idea(depending on comfort level) is to organize parent pods. Where you get two or three other parents and rotate kids each day. Gives you a break and kids are sometimes more inclined to work when not with their own parents. That can also backfire if they are with a friend and talk too much though!

That sounds awful! Homeschool doesn’t need to be so miserable. I’ve been homeschooling for 9 years now, and my 6th grader gets all work done in 2-3 hours. My 9th grader gets it all done in 4-5 hours. There’s no way a 2nd and 4th grader should be spending 8 hours on school. This might not be the best curriculum for them. I recommend looking into other programs or piecing together your own. Learning should be an adventure and that just sounds miserable for all. I’m so sorry.

My daughter is in 4th grade and her work is 8 hours a day before it gets done ,I have learned from last year to give her 10 min breaks every hour. It helps her .i won't be sending her back to her school,I can't take that risk with her or my husband or self we are all high risk .just give breaks
