Binky help

Okay mamas I need some serious advice. I took my sons binky away cold turkey about a month ago. Ever since I took it away, it has been taking him around an hour to fall asleep!! He will be 21 months old soon. I replaced the binky with a stuffed animal and a light projector. I used to be able to rock him to sleep or he points to his crib and I put him in it and he was out in 5-10 minutes. Now he screams and cries and it’s awful. I’m not one to cry it out but when I try to rock him, he won’t fall asleep. We rocked for 30 minutes last night and I finally just put him in his bed and he stayed up another 35 minutes. I don’t know what to do. I know if he has his binky, he would fall asleep so easily. I thought it would get better but like I said we have been going on a month.
