Has anyone ever broke their tailbone?

Question

I fell down the steps almost a month ago and have been experiencing numbness in my legs as well as a very sore lower back. I had a huge bruise on the side of my butt cheek and on the top of my butt crack near the tail bone. The pain is only getting worse and I'm really not trying to go to the doctor unless absolutely necessary due to my ridiculously high copay.
Update: thank you for all your responses. I made an appointment at urgent care for later today so hopefully they will be able to help me.

I broke my tailbone last year. Honestly, if it's just a broken tailbone they can't do much if anything for you and it might take a few months at least for it to feel better. 
However because of the numbness in your legs and the fact the pain is getting worse after a month I would go in to be seen. You might have dislocated it and that doesn't fix on its own or there might be nerve problems or something else.

I fell off a slide with my son 27 weeks pregnant and it felt sore it hurt to poo had pain for weeks and still have a little pain from it. I rested my doctor just told me to buy a coccyx pillow but shes not a very good obgyn i started to notice too late she didnt even check me well just lifted my shirt. It is better if you get checked now that youre having pain in my opinion tailbone is soft because of pregnancy so it hurts alot more

Be careful numbness down the legs and back pain a lot of the time means you messed up your back.

Yes. I dealt with the pain from it for years. It took months of physical therapy to get it back to normal. I wouldn’t “sit” on the issue (pun intended)
