Are Ryan and Rylan too close? Read below

So my husband likes the name Rylan (not sure on spelling yet) for a girl. However, my brother in laws name is Ryan. We are very close with him and are with them almost every weekend. 
Do you think Ryan and Rylan are too close sounding? Or would it seem like we are naming the baby after him?

Too close for comfort in my opinion. There’s too many names out there just to pick the same name as a family member and add an “l” to it

Yeah it's pretty much the same name. I don't see a problem with it per se if everyone is in agreement, but it does seem like he was named after him. But I have a friend who was named after her Aunt (who was still alive) and no one minded.  At family gatherings they'd call her by her first and middle name so people weren't confused
