Breastfeeding or formula?

Question

I’m debating on whether or not I want to breastfeed or formula feed 😩
Everyone tells me I should breastfeed because it’s healthier and free, but I’m kinda not on board with it. 
I have so many questions about both options including pumping. 
Like will it hurt to breastfeed (physically)? Will I even be able to breastfeed? Will my baby latch? Is formula safe? What’s even in formula? 
I’m a wreck!

Do what you think is best for you, your mental health and the baby. Breastfeeding isn’t for everyone and it can be hard. If you don’t want to breastfeed there is always breast pumps and formula. Don’t let anyone pressure you into doing one thing over the other.

Yes it will hurt at first. But once you and baby get used to it it should stop hurting soon. Yes formula is safe. If not then no one would use it.

I was the woman who didn’t want to actually breastfeed or formula feed. I thought for sure I’d pump and give baby breastmilk. I ended up breastfeeding and despising pumping and also supplementing with formula. I won’t tell you what to do because that choice is yours but I would recommend at least trying to breastfeed. You might end up liking it like I did. I really thought it would be weird but it wasn’t one bit weird. And it was way easier than getting up in the night to fix a bottle. All I had to do was pull the boob out and stick baby on. I also know some women experience pain and sore and cracked nipples but I didn’t experience that. Very early on I had a little nipple discomfort but some nipple cream fixed it right up.

I ended up formula if your unsure on what you want to do I'd recommend trying breast if you don't like it that's absolutely fine I mixed between breast and bottle for a bit but my boy just preferred bottle

All babies are different. My 1st son didn’t latch, I pumped for 2 weeks before I got mastitis and dried up. My 2nd son latched immediately and breastfed for 2 weeks before a situation happened. Him latching only hurt when we were still in the hospital, once we got home, it didn’t hurt. Pumping didn’t hurt me either. But every women is different and every baby is different.

I tried to breastfeed for a while but baby wouldn’t latch so I pumped for 2 months but found it to hard and tiring with lack of sleep and postnatal depression so went to formula my daughter is healthily and has formula she’s 8 months and 8.5kgs

I prefer pumping. I simply cannot put a baby on my boob. I tried and failed horribly at doing it. So I’m over it.
Formula over time is so expensive unless you qualify for wic. And I don’t have time for the extra appointments or anything else. So pumping it is.
I will buy the premade formula bottles to start baby off on until my milk comes in full swing and then it’s bottle of breast milk.

Do what’s best for you!! I thought it would be a miracle if I made it a month nursing - my baby turns 10 months next week and is still nursing. I also work so he does formula while I’m away from him. 
It hurts a bit sometimes especially when he’s sick and isn’t latching well but for the most part it isn’t painful. I thought I would hate it but I really have enjoyed it. It’s definitely not for everyone and I can’t lie - there were some hard days in the beginning where I almost gave up but I really wanted to see it through just so that i knew I could!!

From my personal experience: my son had a bad latch so yes it hurt a lot. Being the only one who can ever feed him is truly exhausting. I really wanted to breastfeed, but switching to formula was what was best for my mental health, and therefore my baby’s yes formula is safe. I would definitely give it a shot because you wont know if you don’t try, but do whatever works for you and your family!

I tried to breastfeed my twins but they were 6 weeks early and in the NICU. So they needed a special formula to help gain weight. They were getting to tired nursing so I was just pumping and fortifying my milk so they got the extra calories.after 3 and a half weeks I stop pumping cause my supply was going down, my mom has issues with supply too so I expected I would as well and it was to exhausting for me. I was sleep deprived and stressed all the time. My girls are a month old and have been fine with the formula. They are gaining weight perfectly. Switching to formula has been best for me mentally and physically. You do what is best for you, as long as baby is fed and is happy and healthy that's all that matters.
