Is this offensive?
Okay, I know I've already posted today but I have a question. I'm genuinely just curious and would truly like to know. I have a dream catcher my mom gave me when I was really young. I'm unsure where she got it. I am white and live in the US. My mom
hung it above my bed when I was little and scared to have nightmares and she told me all my dreams would go through the dream catcher and the bad ones would get stuck like bugs in a spider web. It has very important significance to me and I would like to hang it above my son's bed and carry on the tradition. However, would that be offensive? Is there anyone here descended from a tribe which uses dreamcatchers for their true purpose (I'm currently unaware of what they're actually used for) that could give me some insight? It has a lot of meaning to me but I also want to teach my children how to respect other cultures. I hope nothing I said was offensive, I don't mean any offense. Thank you!
