Umbillical hernia?

My son is 1 month old and his belly button is swollen from the inside and is squishy. Looks slightly purple through the skin, is this anything to worry about?

My son had something similar and the pediatrician told me not to worry about it, that for some it can take up to a year to fully heal and that it only requires surgery in very extreme cases. For us it went from being swollen one day to just collapsing in nicely on its own the next when he was about 2 1/2 mos. old. As always though, check with your pediatrician if you're concerned.

My daughter was born with the same thing and it healed itself just like the Dr said it would. She is 5 now and can't see it at all

My pediatrician told me the exact same thing as Morgan's. I wouldn't worry to much unless the doctor sees it as being a problem or if it's causing your LO pain
