My Birth Story- 8.28.20 - Very Long Post
I just gave birth to my 2nd child today. His due date is actually today and he arrived on his actual due date!! This pregnancy was a lot harder than with my 1st! Some will say because it’s a boy and my first was girl but holy shit!!
I went in to my ob appointment on Monday dilated to a 1 and only 50% effaced. My doctor told me that if I didn’t have baby by weekend he would suggest having an induction since I hadn’t progressed since 37 weeks. Monday I decided hey let’s try and help dilated myself so I went to a fairly big store and walked around the entire store for 2.5 hours and then went to another shopping store across town and did the same there for about an hour or so. My 2 year old started getting very fussy so I just decided probably best to head home since it was getting close to her nap time anyways.
Tuesday night to have sex with my husband bc I know semen can help soften the cervix so we proceeded to do that and right after he came in me I started experiencing this awful feeling in my lower extremities!! It felt like I had a huge bubble in stuck in pelvic area! I also started shaking very violently but I wasn’t cold. The shivering lasted for a good 2 hours and but the contractions continued for about 3-4 hours. Ranging from 5 minutes apart and only lasting 30s to 11 minutes apart and lasting a 1 minute. Which I had experience Braxton Hicks all pregnancy since 28 weeks so I just decided to finally go to sleep and ignore the pain.
Wednesday Morning i got up and started my usual day with my 2 year old. I went into the bathroom for my morning Pee and I heard something hit the water and it sounded heavy! So I looked down and it was my mucus plug, not the bloody show or anything just a wad of plug. I continued with my morning, my doctor called about 10:30 and told me the induction was set for next Wednesday ( Sept.2nd at 4 AM! I was so excited bc that’s actually my late grandfathers birthday!!). I warned him I lost my plug and he said okay well if you go into labor just head to hospital.
Thursday I just experienced a little pressure and just felt really off! My sciatica was hurting pretty bad and so I just took Tylenol PM and then went to bed.
Friday ( August 28th 2020 - Due date) I woke up did the regular routine with my daughter. Started nesting a little bit, doing laundry, etc. I was feeling pressure in my back but it seemed more just sciatica pain and it was a constant pain! About 8:45 my husband left to go to a workshop and said he would be home around 12. I decided I would take my grandma and my 2 year old to town because I really wanted to buy a Letter board and a milestone blanket for the baby. We left the house about 10:30 am. We went and walked around Home Goods for maybe 10 minutes then went to Hobby Lobby and walked around there for about a good hour or so. After there we decided to go and get food and head home. When we got home it was about 1:30 or so I put my 2 year old down for a nap and I leaned back in my rocking chair and fell asleep for a few minutes, my husband came to wake me up and told me to move to the bed. I went to the bathroom to pee and felt like I had to poop next thing I know I start having contractions so I holler for my husband. He goes and gets my grandma and I hope in the shower really quick. She starts timing my contractions at 2:30-2:45 and they were ranging from 2-3 minutes & lasting a minute. So I got out & got dressed & told my husband let’s go to the hospital now! Luckily our hospital is only max 5 minutes away. When we arrive I go to triage and get checked I’m already dilated to a 7 and 99% effaced. So they start the process of admitting me. I get into my room at 3:30 and they call for an epidural, ran bloodwork and put my IV in. About 4:25-4:30 my nurse comes in and says I’m gonna check you and we are still waiting on the epidural. I was already dilated to an 8 or 9. She said the minute you feel like you need to poop let me know. As soon as she walked out I told my husband go get her I’m having a contraction and feel like I need to poop! She ran back in checked & I was fully dilated! They started getting everything together for me to give birth. I started pushing and had him at 5:10 pm with absolutely no epidural, no pain meds and I got to watch every single minute of it thru a mirror!! Actually watching yourself give birth without the meds is so amazing and makes you just feel on top of the world!
He is absolutely the most perfect little human I have ever seen in my life!!
