Trying to leave an alcoholic boyfriend

I’ve been I denial for a long time. But I can’t take it anymore.

Last night I confronted him when he was sneaking into the kitchen for a shot of cognac and told me he was getting water.

It’s a pattern- he drinks 2 glasses of cognac, then some beer then some tequila and before you know it he’s drunk 5 nights in a row. Can’t hold a conversation, won’t let me go to sleep when I need to be up early for work, hangovers causing us to cancel plans etc.

This morning I told him he can either get help or leave me.

He told me I was not being logical

He told me alcohol is what he uses to relax and escape from his bad job and the stress of Covid. He admitted it’s not a healthy way to deal with issues.

he won’t break up with me but also won’t quit drinking.

I don’t know what to do. I love him so much but he won’t get help. Is it over? Do I move out? It’s my house so I need him to leave
