Kick counting?

How important is it to actually do kick counts? At my last appointment I was told to start doing so, but I haven’t because my sweet little one moves SO much. It would be hard to sit there for an hour counting her every move. She’s just so active and I don’t really see a need in counting how many times she’s kicking unless she all of a sudden slows or stops.

I never did with my son because he was always moving. I think it’s probably more important if they don’t move a lot.

I was told not to do actual kick counts because every baby is different and some are just more lazy than others.
My OB told me if I’m worried about movement, to lay down and drink something really cold and wait 2 hours. If you feel the baby at least 6 times in 2 hours, baby is fine!

You only need to do kick counts if you’re noticing less or no movement when baby would usually be active. It’s not necessary to do them just as a routine.

I never counted with my first pregnancy. You tend to know your baby's schedule after a few weeks. Our first moved all night long, but slept all day. The same is happening with our second so I am not too concerned!

I’ve had two kids and never once counted any kicks. They were super active and I didn’t feel it was necessary. They also never slowed down.

My OB told me I only need to do them if I feel like it's been awhile since she has moved. She also said once you count ten movements you can stop counting, you don't need to count for a full hour unless it's taking that long to get to ten movements.

I haven't done any period. My son's is more active now than ever at 37 weeks but when he barely moves I just try to sit still and not over think it and eat or drink something because eventually he will kick my ribs to let me know he's there 🥴

My midwife said to me if you have an active baby it’s easier because you would know if they slowed down or if something was wrong. With my son, he was very lazy and barely ever kicked but was happy and healthy, easy to count kicks because it was hard to tell sometimes if he was reduced or not. I hope that makes sense
