Should gender categories be taken out of award shows?

Do you think these categories should be taken out of awards?

idk about sports but for music, I find that female artists are almost constantly the ones going above and beyond.
if we took out the gender categories, i can really see sexism preventing the (typically) more deserving female artists from being awarded. 
racism is already a very clear issue in how awards are given out.

Yes. I’m not sure our society is quite ready for it yet, but yes eventually.  The only reason to have separate categories for gender is because of systemic gender inequalities. But I’m not, and have never been, a fan of the whole “separate but equal” solution that ultimately does more to protect status of the current privileged group than to lift up the under-privileged group.  Men don’t have to give up any awards to allow women to win if they graciously give women their own category. Men don’t have to give up their ‘hard earned’ spot on the team if they give women their own teams. Men don’t have to ‘lose to a woman’ if they don’t compete against them.  And obviously, gender categorization just further disenfranchises people who are trans, non-binary or don’t have an identified gender.  To continue it just serves to perpetuate systemic gender inequality.

I don't know if i have a legitimate answer- but it annoys me people assert gender is real and a valid way to divide an awards show. Can anyone prove gender is "real" and define "real"? And whyis it valid to divide things as such, especially if the experience and biology of gender is actually arguably diverse & not binary?
Why aren't they all just actors & what is wrong with that? Acting is an art, and anyone can be talented in it. The problem is men would probably win too much, I don't think Hollywood is ready for not having gender categories, I think Hollywood came about in a time where roles were very gendered- and they still are for the most part, I'd say. 
So if anything, it should be divided by the gender of role played, rather than if the actor 🤔 perhaps? As, I don't think society has really moved on from gender tropes in cinema.

I dunno. I’m more bothered by men vs. women billiards. It confuses me. Some sports/games don’t seem like they need to be divided by sex or gender-association.
