Mother in law help

My mother in law and I have a shit relationship. We both know we don’t like each other but just tolerate each other when we’re around my husband. Hubby and I live out of state and I came back home to visit my family for a month (which is 15 min from my in laws). Am I suppose to go over even though we both don’t care for each other? And if so, am I suppose to invite myself over? Or is she the one who should invite me? She always tells my husband why I never go over here house and how I can go whenever I want even if he’s not there. But I feel like it’s more of her just complaining to make me look like a bad person rather than her actually craving my company. Theres also a language barrier so I do feel awkward just sitting around watching tv with someone I can’t really communicate with and doesn’t like me.
