induce or wait?

i’m 40 weeks and it really is starting to feel like baby girl is super comfortable and isn’t coming anytime soon. i was offered an induction last week if it was something i wanted. i want to try to let her come on her own and go into labor myself.. but my body HURTS and i’m exhausted!! plus i’m so ready to meet my sweet girl and hold the little one who has been kicking me for 9 months. does anyone have any tips on how to kickstart my labor? should i keep waiting or schedule an induction? my next appointment is tomorrow.

I personally would try to wait if you don't have any medical reasons. I've had medically necessary inductions and did not like them. Pitocin contractions are rough, and 2 of my 4 inductions ended in c sections.

I was induced with my first at 40 weeks. The contractions definitely felt different than my second when I wasn’t induced. I was induced as I had no family near me and my mom was coming to visit. She couldn’t change her flight as she had kids back home. Do whatever is best for you. I’d like to wait and go into labor naturally if possible, but at the time that wasn’t the best option for us.

My two inductions at 10 days and 12 days late were a breeze they were 4 and 1 1/2 hours long I’m not saying this will happen for everyone but I personally believe it was because my body was so ready to have them.

I’m in Australia and most places here they won’t induce until 41+3 (or 10 days late) I’ve had all mine either then or I had to wait until 12 days after with one because the hospital was too busy. My first Bub I actually went into labour naturally at 41+2 and had him the next morning :) I’m glad I got the experience of going into labour naturally. Maybe talk to your doctor and set a deadline or book in an induction at a certain date and see if you make it there 🤷🏻‍♀️ I personally wouldn’t go over 10 days just for safety reasons and maybe see if they’ll do a nst (non stress test at about 41 weeks to make sure babies doing ok. Xx

Try sex to get things going naturally, sperm helps soften the cervix. I was pushed to wait and didn’t start induction until 41+1 and there was no change between 40 weeks and when they started just an even bigger baby to push out so personally I’d probably opt to get the induction scheduled sooner rather then later.
