Should you really register for both infant and convertible car seats?

This is on my checklist from Target. We already got an infant seat with a travel system that was gifted to us. What do you guys think?

This checklist is excessive since it has the travel system which includes an infant seat and stroller, plus an additional infant seat, plus a convertible car seat. You can remove the extra infant seat from the checklist, since you only need one total, but you need to keep the convertible car seat on your registry since that’s the one you’ll use the longest. Infant seats technically aren’t necessary (although they’re convenient), but convertible seats ARE necessary and often times can be used from birth. Some people even buy 2 convertible car seats to keep one in your car and one in your husbands car since they’re very difficult to remove and install.

I registered for both in case someone wanted to actually spend that much on my baby. Doesn’t hurt since you will eventually need it if you have the space to store it. We ended up getting gifted the convertible seat by someone who didn’t have our registry link anyways. Super great just hard to store where it’s not an eyesore or in the way

Like to put in your registry? No not if you already have the infant travel system (car seat and stroller) you could register for the convertible seat if you want in case someone wants to get it for you and you can save it. Switched my daughter to a convertible seat around her first birthday. I waited until their were sales and deals on convertible seats before we bought it. We also didn't have any family willing to buy big ticket items. So if you have someone who will definitely put it on your registry just in case

I had a convertible on my registry in case somebody felt like contributing to it, my dad and his wife ended up buying it for us but I also had it on there with the "group giving" option in case some of our aunts or coworkers or something wanted to do a group gift (same with some other big ticket items) BUT the biggest reason I put it on there was to have it eligible for the completion discount. I knew I was going to need one anyways, and was going to buy one eventually, so why not take the opportunity to get 15% off? We bought a second one for my husband's car when they happened to go on sale after my completion discount was available so we actually got a really good deal on our second seat.

I'm a minimalist, but I used both. The bucket seat they outgrow pretty young, but it's really helpful with newborns. If you only have a convertible, you'll have to deal with issues like baby falling asleep in the seat and now you're stuck or have to wake the baby, and also carrying your bag and things while trying to get an infant in the car while supporting their head is difficult. You could get away with just the convertible, but the bucket really is useful early on.

I did because the stroller/infant system was a set but baby outgrew it and we needed the convertible one then. My mom ended up buying it as her gift for the baby shower. It's totally up to you either way. Just know that the infant one doesn't last as long as you think and you'll need something else eventually.

Yes I would register for an infant car seat and a convertible car seat. My son out grew his infant car seat around 11 months. But you only really need one infant car seat & one stroller I would add an extra base for the infant car seat if you have more than one car though. That way you can put a base in each car & just click in the infant car seat & not have to worry about buckling the car seat every time you get in & out of the car

No. These are just suggestions. My stroller doesn’t come with an infant seat so we needed to register for both infant and convertible.
