I don’t know why he even bothered calling me

I’ve been long distance with my fiancé for a year. He’s been doing a post doc which consumes a lot of time. He’s leaving in a few weeks to move home(I’m helping move him home)

We typically talk an hour or so each night, him calling at 11:45-12 pm my time.

He called me last night and he mentioned that he’d probably work after our phone call. The whole convo I could tell he just wasn’t there. He was kinda giving one word answers and not really engaging.

I mentioned this hard tea I had tried(lover boy) and he seemed interested in the first flavor but when I mentioned the other two he was like “yea, I’m probably not gonna have it”

I finally was like “if you need to go work let me know” because I could tell he wasn’t really present in our convo and he goes “yea I should probably get to work” then after I said goodnight and I loved him he goes “yup, love you too” in like the most boring monotone.
