D & C no period

Almost a month ago I had a D & C done (not for abortion or miscarriage) and I’m a week late for my period. Is it normal after having a D&C not to have a period? My last time having sex was before the procedure, so last cycle. They def tested me before the procedure and would’ve known if I was pregnant. Now, I did have sex the day before this period was due and the day it was due.... I know it’s unlikely to get pregnant that close to your period, but maybe the D & C threw things off a little bit. How long should I wait to start my period before I take a pregnancy test?

Just to clarify I wasn’t pregnant! This was to remove endometrial tissue. First day of last period was August 18, last day was Aug 21. The procedure was Aug 26
