Doppler

Question

Has anyone tried a Doppler, if so how far long were you when you could hear baby’s heartbeat? Went to the doctors today and they couldn’t find the heartbeat, it kind of scared me but he said it may just be too early.. I get my Doppler tomorrow. I am currently 12 weeks.

Based off of your reaction to your doctor being unable to pick a heartbeat up on Doppler, I definitely wouldn’t recommend one and could see how it would cause you unnecessary worry and stress, but seeing that you had already purchased one perhaps asking your doctor how to properly use it. You could be picking up your heartbeat and/or placenta thinking you had just found the baby or just because you may be able to find the heartbeat doesn’t mean that everything is okay either. My doctor wasn’t able to pick up the heartbeat at 12 weeks either and we waited until my 16 week appointment to be able to find her and I didn’t even try finding her until my doctor was able to. I also didn’t purchase one for reassurance but so my boyfriend could also hear her heartbeat. Now that I’m further along, she likes to try and play hide and seek with it and doesn’t even like being found.
