Getting out?!

Hello guys I’m looking for some advice/support. Ive been in the army a few years and have recently started the separation process due to ptsd. I should be out in 90days and from there I am marrying my fiancé and becoming a dependa. I’m very nervous because I know how dependas are seen, and I’m very nervous about becoming a civilian again as I’ve been in the military since I was 18. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’m the same boat. Been in for 6 years and my husband is staying in (for a year then he’s dipping out too) honestly just don’t become a dependa. There’s a difference. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’ll be fine.

my hubby got out in 2019 and i’m staying in until 2021. he wouldn’t tell me back then but now that i’m getting out he expressed how scared he was to become a civilian again. he was very lucky and ended up finding a job only a few months after getting out. he looked around for jobs in his field and got recommendations from our 1sg and CO which helped. but he’s thinking about going AD again because he’s “bored” of the civilian job. 
 now that my MEB is starting i definitely feel just as nervous as he was to become a civie again. my 1sg already wrote up my letter of recommendation, but i plan on going to college and switching careers.

I grew up with the military and married a service member. I knew what to look for and how dependas were seen. It’s pretty easy to weed out the normal wives and the wives who “served” by wearing their spouses rank. Just be yourself be nice to the other defendant spouses. If one is uber “salute me, I’m in charge cause my spouse is in charge” and you can’t tolerate them, just ignore them and don’t associate. Trust me I’ve met some cunty spouses, ranging from active duty, veteran, and those who never served. Where as I’ve met MANY wives who were the sweetest down to earth people ever. It’s the bad ones that cause us all to get lumped into a stereotype.
