What happens when you stop

Question

I’m planning to hang up our breastfeeding socks on my daughters first birthday in November.
What can I expect?  How long does it take for milk to dry up?
Will I need to express just a tiny bit to remove discomfort?
Is it going to be hell with my daughter wanting it?

It’ll be a lot less stressful for her an comfortable for you if you stop gradually. I dropped one nursing feeding from my daughter’s schedule (and tried to not pump) at a time. Once my body was comfortable with that, then I dropped another nursing session. I continued on until all nursing was dropped. I dropped the day feedings first (one at a time), then the morning feed, then the bedtime feed. It took me a month or so to totally wean my daughter but it was stress-free so I preferred to do it that way.

My daughter is also 1 in November and I am already weaning her off. She loves eating food and then I started to give formula randomly too. I’m cutting her off at 1.

I always wean my babies gradually if you know when you plan on stopping you should slowly decrease feedings before that date.

I can't speak on everything else. But she may take it better than you are expecting. I had to unexpectedly quit breastfeeding my first son cold turkey when he was 16 months old. I was four months pregnant and my supply tanked. And I thought it was going to be a nightmare because he was still breastfeeding every 3 hours (nights included) and literally could not fall asleep without nursing. So as soon as I realized my supply was gone, we stopped cold turkey. The first day, he kept reaching for him, but I told him he couldn't have it and cuddled him instead. And he took it really well. Didn't cry at all and it only took 3 days for him to stop even attempting to reach for them.
