14mos old self feeding issue

I have a 14mos old boy who will only use a spoon to eat oatmeal. I’ve tried giving him a spoon with yogurt or applesauce, both things he’s previously been spoon fed so I know he likes them. But for whatever reason, he will not feed himself. If I hand him a loaded spoon he pushes it away. If I put a dollop of something on his plate and place the spoon inside, he grabs the spoon and throws it on the floor. I’m at a loss. Has anyone else dealt with this?
