Fitness and pregnancy - is this safe while 6-7 months pregnant?
I’m 23 and currently 16w6d pregnant. I do have a full time job currently, but I’ve been waiting for the job I actually want to make into my career to open their applications again. They only accept applications during their “open application” periods, and the last time they were accepting was like 2 years ago. The application window is for about a month, from now until mid-November. It’s a year long hiring process, and after the application window closes they start with a physical fitness test. I’m assuming it would be in either December or January, but basically I would be noticeably pregnant then and 6-7 months pregnant.
The fitness test includes 3 timed activities - sit ups, push ups, and a mile and a half run. I am fairly fit - I’m a yoga instructor and aim to workout (usually at home since Covid) at least 2-3 times a week since being pregnant. Now that I’m starting to feel better I’m working on getting closer to my standard 5 times a week.
This is my first pregnancy and so I don’t really know what to expect. My doctor is aware I’m into fitness and so far has had no concerns with me being active, stating that if I did it before pregnancy and have kept doing it during pregnancy it’s fine. Simply listen to your body.
But 6-7 months pregnant, I’m not sure how practical push ups and sit ups are, much less how safe (mainly sit ups). If I keep up with them now, will it be safe to do the test in a few months?
Note - prior to pregnancy, I was not at all concerned about the fitness test. To me it seemed like the easiest part of the hiring process. So it’s just the pregnancy part that’s throwing me for a loop.
