Anyone tested for adult ADHD/ADD?

I have been having severe brain fog. I work full-time, and I’m in grad-school. My baby is 11 months old and I thought it was postpartum anxiety. I really struggle with remembering simple things, phrases, and forgetfulness. The nurse practitioner I just saw said she wants me to be tested for ADHD instead. Can anyone give me information about this? Have you been through it? What was testing like? Outcomes? Meds, etc.

I was tested in 2012 at 21 years old because I was having similar issues and was finding university very difficult. 
The testing itself was a full afternoon and some tests were easy (like putting together blocks to match pictures) to super hard (repeating lengthy number sequences while listening to background noise that got louder and louder). It was exhausting. The university covered the cost of the testing.
I am in Canada though so the testing could be really really different. 
In the end I didnt have ADD or ADHD but undiagnosed dysphonetic dyslexia and an audio processing disorder. I haven't needed medication but took accommodations in university (separate testing rooms and note takers for classes with the option to record) to level the playing field. 
My friend who has ADD went through the same testing every three years to qualify for her class accommodations and didn't end up needing to go on medication because of the accommodations and coping skills she learned along the way.

Well I’ve had ADHD all my life. I was given dexamphetamines in primary school but stopped when I hit my teens because of alcohol use and what not.... I’m against meds all together I don’t even take anything for a headache. 
Brain fog and all that sounds like anemia to me. 
ADHD u struggle to stay focused and find yourself fidgeting a lot. I am studying from home for University at the moment and I will read two one sentence and forget everything and start losing focus and my mind wonders and thinks about other things.... it’s very very very hard!! I struggle so much! I find myself reading a sentence over and over and over trying to register it and stay focused before I end up in tears because I just can’t do it! 
(I didn’t last in school either because of this)  
Watching movies or tv.... I zone out a lot so if someone was to ask me “oh what did he just say” the chances are I didn’t hear it because I wasn’t paying attention... hyperactivity has slowed down for me a lot as I’ve gotten older and had kids (because they drain all your energy) although when I get High I’m super high and jumping around singing and dancing and just being weird 😬 good laugh for my kids and husband though haha 
Get checked for ADHD if you want but I think it’s more low blood
