How to lighten brassy hair? Hi lift or bleach?

My natural hair color is dark brown. I got lightened to light brown at a salon. About 2 -3 weeks later I colored at home using a hi lift blonde and got to a brassy but pretty golden blonde with orange roots. Do I have to bleach all over or will the hi lift work to lighten it up? I want to avoid spending $600 dollars again.

You probably ruined your hair by trying to do it at home :( go to a professional, be prepared to spend big $$$ on a color correction, and please don’t try to color your own hair again.

Please go see a professional. Highlift is color . Color does not lighten colored hair . Bleach does . Altough now you have several different types of color , so it should be best that it is done in foils . There is a reason why a good color job is expensive.

Try purple shampoo. Put in on damp or dry hair for about 5-10 minutes and it should help the brasiness.. if not then you may need to have lighter done over it again but I wouldn’t use high lift lightener as it will damage your hair since you’ve already had lightener in your hair.
