Copper IUD and dark brown/red bleeding
I’ve had my copper IUD for about 5 years and have loved it. Pretty regular cycles, and only had it replaced last year when I noticed it had shifted after reading a CT for a separate issue.
In the last 6 weeks or so, I’ve had consistent spotting with heavier periods of brown/red bleeding. Enough to use a tampon with but not to the scale of my usual period. I’ve also had mild pelvic pain and swelling, but that’s not too unusual as I’ve had multiple abdominal surgeries.
I had my IUD checked by a GYN two weeks ago, and he said that the placement looked fairly good and that he wouldn’t worry, but he didn’t do a pregnancy test himself. I’ve taken 2 pregnancy tests at home, both negative. In the last 6 weeks I’ve had a lot of physical stress with having COVID and a bacterial infection, as well as continuing to be active at the gym and work as usual (once I was out of isolation). Has anyone else had this happen ? My greatest fear is that I’m pregnant, which I’m not ready for just yet.
