It's Been Almost A Year And I Still Haven't Met His Kid

So I've been dating this guy for almost a year and he STILL hasn't let me meet his kid. He has primarily custody, but his kod sees his mom every other weekend and every other Holiday. So I get to spend the night on weekends.

Now I understand the reason. He had a girlfriend a few years back who ended up sleeping with his son who was 11 at the time. He's 14 now. I can't imagine how he must feel. I understand he wants to protect his kid... but its been almost a year. Surely he can trust me by now. He keeps saying when the time is right. But also says he loves me. Am I wasting my time here?
