When to try again after ectopic pregnancy?

Hi all,

I just had my ectopic pregnancy and left tube removed yesterday 😢😢...this was supposed to mine and my husband's first child. It was fairly easy for us to get pregnant... It conceived on our first try! I had just gotten off the pill and didn't even get my first period off the pill get and got pregnant. I couldn't believe it! But now I feel like maybe I should have waited.. There's so many what ifs that have gone through my mind. But on the other hand, I can't stop thinking about getting pregnant again! My doctor recommends 3 months, but I have a friend that went through this and got pregnant within 6 weeks. And now she has a healthy 7 month old baby boy 😃😃. I'm just scared and paranoid that 6 weeks might be too soon-- I don't want to push my body too hard, but I'm feeling so depressed.. I don't think I'll be able to be happy again until I'm pregnant again!

I'm trying to stay positive but there will always be fears that this would happen again or that I will have a miscarriage. I truly believe that your body and its cells are intuitive and they really listen to your brain.. So I want to stay as positive as I can. Any tips on how I can keep myself from worrying all the time?!

And if you had an ectopic pregnancy and had it surgically removed, how long did you wait until you tried again?

My Dr told me I could start ttc after my first regular period. Our ectopic was in December. I've just started my second period but think we have decided to wait 3 or 4 more months.
I know I will be supper paranoid when I see a positive test again!

I did have a friend that had an ectopic a few years ago in December, she was pregnant by march and has a healthy boy!

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's not fair that anyone has to go through that. After my ectopic It took me 5 weeks to get my period again. Once af was over, I had an hsg xray to make sure my remaining tube wasnt blocked and we started trying a few days later when I was ovulating. This is our 2nd month trying since then. I'm currently in my 2 week wait, supposed to start af tomorrow. However, my cycle has been a little off since my surgery, so we will see. I know it's tough for you right now, but things will get easier love. It took me 2 weeks to start being positive again. Hang in there. :)

My doctor told me 3 months so my body can get enough folic acid. At first I thought it was a long time, but time is going by fast. I can TTC again in January. I had an ectopic pregnancy in October.

Hi I'm in this same situation. Yesterday I had an etopic at 7 weeks and lost my left tube. My doctor told me 2-3 months so that everything inside is healed properly. It was also our first child. How have you handled the emotional aspect of it?

My Dr told me that she'd prefer me to wait a year before ttc. I started trying after 5 months, but no luck yet. My ectopic had ruptured and the Dr cut my tube open to remove what was there and they didn't stitch my tube back up because they wanted it to heal closed on its own.
