Am I overreacting ?

I need advice big time. I just moved out and into my own apartment. My boyfriend and I used to live an hour away from each other but now we live 15 minutes away which is amazing !! My parents didn’t allow him to stay the night but now that I have my own place he is able to and I need help... now that he is actually able to stay the night with me, it makes me extremely upset and grouchy when he wants to go home instead of staying with me. Tonight he was supposed to stay the night but decided he just wanted to go home and play the Xbox with the boys and have alone time. How do I keep myself from getting upset when he wants to go home ? I don’t wanna be miserable and sometimes start an argument every time he wants to go home but I don’t know how to control it🥺😔

I’d be upset if he planned to stay and decided to leave. I’d come up with some sort of schedule that works for both of you so that he gets some nights at home alone and some with you so both your needs are being met.

Honestly maybe he’s wondering why you’re not going over to his place. Try to hangout and show one another you’re a priority

*you* moved out. You didn’t move in together. Even in a relationship you need alone time, and he’s not going to want to be at your place all the time. Sure you can miss each other but enjoy yourself own space - remember it’s not his space, not his house. When my now fiancé and I were dating I had my own place and he livrd with his roommate. We got our own place together when we were sleeping at one of our houses together every night anyway. You’re still just getting used to being close together and you living on your own - don’t rush it

Has he done it a lot? Or was it just this time? I get that you are upset if he did it all the time, but if it’s just a few times then try to understand it, he had his routine before! Maybe tell him to bring the Xbox over so he can play and still be with you?

I had this problem when I started dating my boyfriend. I finally just told him that it’s not fair to say you’re going to do something with me and then change your plans for no good reason. He thought about it for a minute and said I was right. There was no excuse for his actions and wanted to start following thru on his word.
