My son's birthday

I need advice!

My son will be turning 17 on Halloween. We already had plans for him to have a few people over, including his girlfriend and her family.

But today he asked me if he could spend his birthday with his girlfriend's family instead.

I got upset because he knew we already made plans for his birthday and it's his last birthday as a kid so I feel like he should be with me on his birthday.

In the past, I've let him spend his birthday with friends because it wasn't a big deal, but this this year is different.

What do you think? Should I just let him spend it with his girlfriend or should I make him spend it with me? Be brutally honest if you must.
