Torn Perineum after birth

Guys i gave birth 3 years ago, well had sex tonight and i felt something kinda split and feel painful but didnt pay much attention, well when i went to pee it burned and hurt so bad similar to after childbirth so i took a mirror and some how it tore open where i had stitches done... like is that common? Hasnt happened before so this is a first, how long will this take to friggen heal this go around? And biggest question should i avoid sex? Im literally due for my period any day now so i can only imagine the pain a tampon will cause 😩 guess we got to rough tonight.
