Baby blessing outfit too girly?

Both my mother and my mother in law are sewers, not amazing seamstresses by any means, but they enjoy sewing.

I have two daughters, my mother in law made the blessing gown for my oldest, my mother made the gown for my youngest.

I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with a boy, and I told both of them that I was making his christening outfit, because it was my turn haha. They also have history of squabbling (not in any serious way, but they always want to be the one to make something) over who gets to make what for my kids.

Well I am a crocheter, no sewing skills here. My husband didn’t want a gown for our son. However a lot of crochet can be very lacy and girly looking. So I looked at patterns and ideas for weeks, and settled on this one.

My husband has very not so subtly hinted that he still thinks it’s too girly 🙄 and he wants to buy a little baby suit.
