When will you allow your children to create their own social media profiles?

My nephew is 6 he has a social media and I won't allow it for my 8 year old. The majority of my relatives have let their kids create social media profiles it's startling to me. Just thinking of the predators lying in wait especially when these social media platforms have no defense against this

I had social media around 15 as that's when MySpace and all thag first became a thing. But watching it evolve and become what it is today I don't believe young teens have any business on Facebook, snap chat, Instagram, etc. My daughter isn't allowed to have social media until she's like 16. Any younger and I'm afraid it will have a negative effect on her mental health

13 will probably be the absolute minimum for us. My nieces and nephews have tik toks, instagram and snapchats and the stuff I see on their tik toks is honestly SO ALARMING. The youngest is 7 and the oldest is 12. Their parents claim to monitor their stuff but I really find it hard to believe when I get shown the vulgar things they post😔

I had Facebook at thirteen but my mom had my password to it and I had to have her as a friend on it. 
Maybe I’ll let my child at thirteen with supervision

My daughter will be 13 dec 20 and still doesn’t have one. My almost 10 year old doesn’t have one and my almost 2!yesr old deff doesn’t have one. Vast majority of my 13 year olds friends have one and she will them my mom said no 🤷🏼‍♀️

I didn’t have social media until college, and neither did my husband. Didn’t have a cell phone until 16. Our kids will not be diving into technology at a young age. No tablets, no tv in their rooms, no phones, etc.

My almost fourteen year old is still not on. I think it’s a distraction he doesn’t need and isn’t beneficial for kids self esteem. He gets together with friends in person or on the phone or occasionally texts, needs to socialize in reality longer before attempting it virtually lol.

I allowed my kids at 13, with me having passwords and full access to everything, no selfies, but at 15 and 17, they really don’t use it at all.  They did before they had an actual phone plan but now they just text their friends.  My 17 year old sells digital art commissions and so used her insta to advertise that 
It’s easy to say not until 16-17-18 but I went on a class trip (4 days) with my daughter when she was 12, and I would say 90% of the kids had instagram, Facebook and Snapchat already.  Your kid really ends up lonely and pushed out of their friend group when they’re the only ones not allowed to communicate and make plans with others that way.  I didn’t allow snap but allowed the others with me friended and also having the passwords at 13.
