SAHM - SO’s annual income?

Question

I made this a poll because obviously it’s a pretty personal question. For those that are stay at home moms, how much do your significant others bring home? Or vice versa, how much do you make if your SO stays home with baby?
I currently work from home but that opportunity will end in August. We’re trying to decide if it will be worth it for me to work in the office at that point with the incurred daycare & after school care costs. 
Another question, what made you determine the right choice was to be a SAHM?
Obviously I know everyone’s situations, area they live in, and debt is different.. I was just curious!

He makes more than 60k. I just love being a SAHM! I love that I don't miss a thing and that I can always be here if they need me or if they're sick. I just love being a mommy 24/7 and being able to be with and care for my babies all day every day is such a blessing. My SO and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I didn’t make as much as he does. We looked into childcare but the price would have been my entire check and some of his so wasn’t worth it. So now I stay at home.

My boyfriend makes around 55k-60k a year. We live in a pretty expensive part of the country - outside of DC. So with what I’d make if I worked part time, it wouldn’t be worth sending him to daycare. If I do pick up a part time job my mom would watch him a couple of days during the week so we wouldn’t pay nearly as much.

I didn’t vote on the income but I wanted to throw out our opinion on why we decided for me to stay home. I’ve been a hair stylist/salon manager/educator for 12 years. After Lilah it was just.. obvious for us that I should stay home. We are lucky that we were able to make that choice. After Lilah was born my husbands view on money changed. He just realized that we don’t need to have “that amount” in our account. It’s the peace of mind for us knowing that Lilah is taken care of by me and by my husband. I think we have attachment issues lol 😅. 
We did sell our first home, we purchased in 2011 (a little bit of a recession) at the beginning of this year. The housing market in the PNW is insane right now so we did make a good profit from the sale. So we do have that as a cushion. 
I also have a salon in my house so I’m able to still do friends and family hair. I usually make a little bit of money, that I use for play.

I was a high school science teacher who spent all of my time nurturing other people’s children and I loved every minute of it. I almost died when my little girl was born. She was totally worth it. The moment I saw her I fell in love and decided I wanted every moment possible with her. It’s my job to nurture her now. I was really lucky that my husband makes enough money to support us, or else there wouldn’t have been much of a choice.When she starts school I plan on going back to work. I am certified to teach grades 2-12 so I plan on working at her school. I guess I couldn’t see myself giving my all to the kids I work with knowing I had my own child that I was missing out on. Also being close to death really changed my perspective on things. I was a bit of a workaholic before my child was born.

Also, it’s necessary to consider cost of living, which varies by location, and monthly expenses/debt. 
Comparing a salary in a more metropolitan area to one in a more rural area wouldn’t really be fair. Also, someone with more monthly expenses would have more to factor in, versus someone who didn’t. I know me staying home wouldn’t be an option if we had car payments, loans, etc.

I basically wouldn’t be making anything worth working in teaching after paying for daycare! So i am most likely staying home till they start kindergarten unless I homeschool. So we will see! But I love being able to be home with Amelia and take her to her activities and etc

For us it was never a question. We plan on homeschooling too so my being a SAHM is long term. My husband has only been a full time nurse for only a couple years so I'm not going to lie, things are tight. But for us it's worth it. We sacrifice a lot of what we would like to do and have. 
Many people say they could never be a Sahm, that they need an outlet. I always thought I was made to be a sahm but since having kids have realized that I really do enjoy working. So I work very part time with a Down Sales company that I love. It gives me the outlet I need while allowing me to do what I believe is best for my kids. All that to say that for my husband and I keeping our kids home is #1 priority. We make it work and if something happens we will do our best to figure out how to make it work again.

I was a nanny for 10+ years. I made 40-50k. So you gotta figure, for it to be worth you being away from the kids, you'd have to make enough to pay a nanny that much, but then still bring home at least half of that after. Otherwise you're just working to pay someone else to raise your kids. And they will miss you. 
Just based on being the nanny before having kids, I don't think I could leave my own with someone else. The kids always miss their parents. It was always sad to watch. I'd you dont NEED TO, just wait till they're older

I used to joke around with my husband (at the time boyfriend) when I was getting my Master’s degree that it was pointless because I was going to be a SAHM. I never thought I’d be able to, especially since we live in the SF Bay Area...but I’ve been a SAHM for almost two years now. My husband earns a six figure income and luckily, we’ve always been financially stable and savvy. We made the decision for me to stay home for several reasons, but mainly because we didn’t want anyone else raising our babes. Another reason was my job as a special ed teacher was becoming emotionally taxing and I needed a mental health break. I plan to stay home for the  next several years until our kids start school. At that point, I would love to go back to work and hang out with other people’s kids again. 
Until then, I’m loving the time I get to have with my own.
