Really struggling with my 2 year old’s sleep
My son has never been a good sleeper. He was up every 2 hours or less until he was close to a year old. Even now at 28 months he still wakes at least once a night. I know he still needs a nap, because if he skips it, he is out of control come evening and is extremely overtired. However, I can’t get him to nap for more than 20 minutes. He wakes up crying and wants me to lay in bed with him the entire time. But I obviously cannot do that. I have a 3 month old as well. I feel like my entire afternoon is dedicated to my 2 year old waking up, and me sitting with him until he falls back asleep, and then him waking again screaming, and me putting him back to sleep, etc. He’s only sleeping solidly maybe 7-8 hours a night. The nap is NEEDED. But he just Won’t. Stay. Asleep. I’ve tried white noise. Weighted blanket. Cooler room. Fan. Background noise/TV. Etc. I don’t know what else to do except to put him in a crib he can’t get out of and leave him to scream for an hour? But that seems counterproductive considering I’m trying to get him to S L E E P so he’s not overly tired, overly stimulated, and rampaging through the house every day. Advice?
