Mirena IUD removal
Hey everyone 👋
I just wanted to share my experience. I was looking for similar posts but couldn't really find many, so for future people experiencing issues, I thought I'd write my experience.
I've had my Mirena since December 2017. The insertion was extremely painful, but quick. The first month or so I always felt like I could feel it in me, but I then got used to it. The first year was great, minimal issues and my periods went away, I thought I was one of the lucky ones.
But after that first year I started having some major issues. Uterus pain/ even ovary pain consistently, (even put me in the hospital once - it was that bad) tired all the time and to top it off my hair started falling out. My hair is so thin now I have to use root touch ups. My doctor hasn't found any reason for my issues, and still regects the idea it could be my IUD, oh well.
So I decided it's time to take it out. I have my appointment in the morning. I almost made it 3 years haha. But me getting my period back, and having worse cramps than I ever remember made it just not worth it anymore.
Also I haven't been off hormonal birth control in over 11 years, so I'd like to get back to my normal, whatever that is. Just to see what it's like for a bit.
I don't knock the IUD. It works for a lot of people and I loved it's effectiveness and ease of use, it just isn't for me right now. I might change my mind later, who knows. This is just so other people know this can happen and these experiences are real.
