Confused help me

So I had surgery on Tuesday and I didn’t want my husband to have to deal with me and my son so I made plans for our son to stay with his parents all week. Well tomorrow is start of hunting season and he wanted to stay the night at his parents with out son and asked if I was going and I was like sure I don’t want to be left alone. Then he comes back later and says he will just go in the morning because we can’t leave the dogs like that so I say ok. Well I called him mom to make sure it was ok for him and our son to stay the night so he could hunt in the morning and his mom watch our son for that while and she said it was fine. Well I told him what his mom said and he went and picked our son up and came home cussing me and slamming stuff and yelling that he waisted 65 dollars on his hunting license that he’s not gonna get to use now and I’m just confused in what happened. Help please
