Milk production?

I delivered via c-section on 11/11/20 and been only producing colostrum till today 11/15. I never really noticed the color of it but it was already concentrated whitish maybe a bit yellow. Why is it taking so long for the real milk to come in? I’m so tired of using the pump or hand expression for such small amounts... will I eventually produce milk?

Are you having a lot of fluid retention? It’s common especially after a c section and fluid retention can cause it to take a little longer for your milk to come in. Keep drinking plenty of fluids and putting feet up and continue to nurse away, this should pass.

Are you nursing or just pumping? It takes on average for your milk to come in at 3 days postpartum but it takes longer for a lot of women. I really didn’t notice mine till 5 days. I saw an IBCLC at day 6 and she said that was normal. She considered anything up to 7 days pretty normal and as long as baby is nursing and getting colostrum they’ll naturally catch back up after the milk comes in.
